Choral Call to Worship “Prayer Song” (#27 P&W Songbook)
*Responsive Call to Worship adapted from Thom Shuman
In this season of discipleship, God calls us to journey
into that unknown, yet strangely certain, country called faith.
On sleepless nights, in fear’s shadows, we toss and turn with doubt’s questions, hoping, like Nicodemus,
to find Jesus and to listen willingly to his responses.
Reluctant to deny ourselves, convinced that everything, every thing, depends on us, we struggle to affirm, as Paul did, that everything, every thing, is in God’s hands,
and we can let go of all to which we cling.
In this season of discipleship, we long to follow Jesus,
wherever he may go, wherever he may lead.
*Opening Hymn “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” (#293)
Unison Prayer of Confession
You know how easily we slip off the paths of discipleship. We try to control the Spirit so she blows when we choose and works according to our directions. Forgive us, and fill us with new faith, Keeper of all hearts. If we will but listen to you, we will know your way, a way of love for the whole world. Amen
