God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship
Today we keep sabbath: we find our rest in God.
We put aside productivity to wonder and worship.
Today we keep sabbath: we do a different kind of work.
We have gathered to pray, to bear witness, to ponder God’s word.
Today we keep sabbath, for the world does not revolve around us.
May our lives revolve around the God of love and grace.
*Opening Hymn “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You” (#4)
Prayer of Confession
Let us confess our sins together, trusting in God’s mercy:
God of grace, we confess that we are more eager to receive your mercy than we are to extend your kindness to others. We ask for what we need, and fail to consider whether we have what someone else needs. We seek your forgiveness, but hold grudges against others. We want you to lead us, but only if you send us where we want to go. Forgive us, and help us to walk in the way of Jesus.
