God is Revealed as We Gather

*Responsive Call to Worship              written by Gary Boelhower

We are called to embrace our gifts.
Give us the courage, O Holy One, to recognize the gifts
we have been given and to share them for the good of all.
We are called to share the bread of life so that all may be nourished and fed.
Give us the courage, O Holy One, to break the bread of
our own lives so that others might have the resources they need.
We are called to create a community of unconditional acceptance and compassion.
Give us the courage, O Holy One, to see the precious and sacred humanity of all our sisters and brothers and to acknowledge the unique story of each person.

*Opening Hymn   “God of Change and Glory” (#177)

Unison Prayer of Confession              written by Gary Boelhower

Holy God, you call us to be bread for one another, to share our time and talent and resources so that all may have what they need. Often we believe there isn’t enough to go around. Often we act like we have to hang on to what we’ve got, we can’t risk giving too much away. An attitude of scarcity controls our way of thinking and acting. Often the needs of the world seem so overwhelming and we feel so powerless. O Holy One, open our hearts to your abounding love. Help us recognize the gifts we have to share. Enliven our compassion so that we might have the courage to reach out to others.
