God is Revealed as We Gather

Choral Call to Worship      “Bist du bei mir” by J.S. Bach

sung by Jennifer Boyle

*Responsive Call to Worship

In the prayers and the praise, in the word and the wonder:
we are given enough joy to live each day.
In the justice for the oppressed, in the unexpected generosity of God:
we are given enough compassion to use in service each day.
In the promises made to all, in the mercy offered to each:
we are given enough grace to share each day

*Opening Hymn  “God is Here! As We Your People Meet” (#70)

Unison Prayer of Confession         adapted from Thom Shuman

Holy One, we look around and see how we fall short in our attempts at faithfulness. We can become so self-absorbed, we cannot see the suffering and struggles of friends, family, and strangers. We are so desperate to get to the front of the line, we push aside the very ones you seek to honor.

Forgive us, God of all hope, and help us remember your Servant, Jesus. Through him, we can learn the dreams you have for us. With him, we can open our arms and embrace all your children and follow in your Way.
