Recently we had three Adult Forums on Afghan Resettlement and the ways our community and Peace Church are welcoming refugees from Afghanistan (four women have recently arrived in Duluth!). Below are three descriptions of the adult forums as well as the recordings of the Zoom meeting for your own viewing.

February 6—Our common call to hospitality: Welcoming the Stranger
Pastor Charlotte Frantz will help us consider the similarities and differences among newcomers to our country: asylum seekers, refugees, Afghan newcomers, and others.  Immigration is a complex subject and the circumstances of one’s entry requires varying kinds of support and welcome.  Learn more about resettlement and the Peace Church Duluth Welcome Circle and ICMJ and asylum support.

February 13—Our common call to hospitality, part 2: Welcoming Afghan Newcomers
Haji, whose given name is Khalil Dokhanchi, is from Iran and teaches political science courses at UWS.  His passion is assisting refugees and advocating on their behalf.  He will be with us on February 13 to help prepare us to be welcoming of Afghan newcomers we hope to bring to Duluth.
