Stepping On Up is a five-year plan to reduce homelessness in Duluth. It is a collaborative effort of nine housing and homeless services providers, the City of Duluth, and St. Louis County.

Peace Church is working towards a rental agreement with Chum and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota, partner organizations of Stepping On Up. Stepping On Up will convert our former daycare wing into shelter housing for 12 homeless young adults aged 18-24. Lutheran Social Service will provide supportive programming and 24/7 staff for the residents.

Peace Church will not only be landlords in this agreement, but also good neighbors sharing kindness and simple acts of hospitality – living out our vision of ‘building the beloved community.’ This proposal was brought to our coordinating council, and our congregation overwhelmingly voted yes to move forward with this lease. We hope to have this in place with construction starting in late fall.
