God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship
A word of encouragement came from prophet to people:
Live a life that is full—dream, plan, eat together,
love one another.
Pray for your communities.
Keep God in the center of all that is.
We enter into worship today with hope in our hearts,
for something happens here that reminds us
that we can live as God desires.
God has blessed us and made a promise of faithfulness to us,
and we can trust the promise.
*Opening Hymn “Come, O Fount of Every Blessing” (#459)
Unison Prayer of Confession
God beyond borders, we know that on our way we often fail to notice people living as exiles in this land because of racism or poverty. We fall silent in the presence of those who speak words of anger and hate. We tolerate a culture that suspects all who are different from us.
Have mercy on us, O God. You call us to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly. Helps us to follow you on this path. You send us companions from places we least expect, that our community might be enriched. You give blessings upon blessings each day. Help us remember to say thanks.
