God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship adapted from Mary Lutti
We come praising God maker and re-maker of everything that is, in whom there is always more.
And by whose wonder, work, and will, even the dead find life.
We come praising God.
We come living in the way of Jesus, host of tables and teller of tales,
in whom the welcome is wide, the feasting free.
And by whose weeping, words, and wounds, even the lost are found. We come living in the way of Jesus.
We come opening our souls to the Holy Spirit, searing light and rushing wind, maker of the imagination, whose eyes see beyond the horizon.
And by whose urgency and fire, even the truth gets told.
We come opening our souls to the Holy Spirit.
We come dwelling in Beloved Community where the old, old Story is told again to thrill sad hearts with rediscovered love.
And to declare the Truth that makes tyrants tumble and sets the captives free. We come dwelling in Beloved Community.
*Opening Hymn: “All My Days” (#34 P&W Songbook)
Unison Prayer of Confession Thom Shuman
God of glory, grace and Wisdom, you call to us, but we do not listen. We trust in the emptiness of the world, but are reluctant to hope in your Word. We boast in our successes, but ignore the sufferings of others. Justice is what we demand for lawbreakers, instead of it becoming a lifestyle for ourselves.
Compassionate Abba: have mercy on us;
Beloved Child: have mercy on us;
Life-Giving Spirit: have mercy on us.

Children’s Time: Gratitude Blessing of the Sunday School Teachers
Nathan Holst, Youth and Children’s Minister
Nurturing God, we bless these Sunday School teachers and give thanks for the work they do to nurture the children in our congregation. Guide them, and any new teachers in the coming year, in their role as faith formers. May we also help fulfill the baptismal promises to our children by supporting the work of these leaders. Amen.
