Choral Call to Worship “Prayer Song” by Ron Deters
*Responsive Call to Worship adapted from Thom Shuman
On glory’s mountaintops of wonder and delight, we wait:
for God’s amazing grace to transform our shadowed lives.
In the valleys of everyday life where noise and concern can overwhelm us, we wait:
willing to simply be in God’s presence.
In the devouring fires of fear, in the mist of misguided living,
for the One who comes in love, to lead us down the paths of peace.
*Opening Hymn “We Have Come at Christ’s Own Bidding”
(#182 black hymnal)
Unison Prayer of Confession
We may not actively conspire against you, Holy One, but we do make those choices which draw us away from you. We want to walk your path, but find ourselves going down trails which lead to trouble. We find it so easy to listen to the distractions of our culture, but have trouble hearing your whispers of hope and healing.
Forgive us, Revealer of mystery and wonder. Call us to that discipleship that is found on mountaintops in your presence, and in the daily paths where you show us how to care for each other.
