God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship
Leader: O God, open us to the powerful winds of your Spirit.
People: Open our eyes to the wonders of your creation.
Leader: Open our nostrils to the smells of life.
People: Open our ears to the words of justice and truth.
Leader: Open our mouths to the taste of freedom and love.
People: Open our arms to embrace our sisters and brothers.
All: Open our hearts to sharing your love through all that we do.
*Opening Hymn: “Awake, Awake …!” (#89 black hymnal)
Eternal Source of all Life, be with us this day as we seek to open ourselves to your love and your wholeness. Fill us with your Spirit of Compassion. So that we can serve each other and the world into which we are called. Help us to remember that it is your breath that flows into and through us – your breath of Life. Let us affirm your love, and your life, and your work, even in the midst of our everyday lives. Empower us to proclaim that love and justice are not just words we hear in the Bible, but a kind of life that we are called to live this day and every day. Amen.

Sharing Communion Together
Our vision is to be an accessible, open and affirming community growing in Christian faith, committed to peace and justice, and reaching out in healing love to all of creation, including all people, respecting and valuing the diversity of people’s sexual orientation, race, culture, gender, age, opinions, and physical and mental abilities.
Song of Preparation: “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” (#293 black hymnal)
Prayer of Blessing (In Unison)
We do not come to this table, Almighty God, trusting only in ourselves. For we know that whenever we try to become our own gods, we become confused and lost. We come because we have reached the conclusion that the only way for us to really live and find any lasting satisfaction is by trusting in you. So, we humble ourselves before you and confess our need for you. Give to us and to these elements the blessing of your Holy Spirit, Gracious God. May our participation in this sacrament help us to know you more fully; may it remind us all to live together more compassionately; and may it lead us to a deeper discovery of our wholeness in you. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Sharing of the Bread and the Cup
Pastoral Prayer of Thanksgiving (In Unison)
We thank you, O God, for inviting us to this table where we have received Christ and all Christ’s gifts. Send us forth with strength and renewed commitment to show forth your praise not only with our lips but in our lives, by offering ourselves in service to you and all people, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
*Closing Hymn: “Christian, Rise and Act…” (#537 black hymnal)
