Unison Prayer of Confession adapted from multiple sources
What can we say about our foolish lives, God of Love? Too often, we choose to worship power when we could serve others in humility. We toss and turn at night, we let all those things over which we have no control keep us wide awake, when we could release our concerns into your warm embrace through prayer. No matter how many times we hear the news that death has lost its power over us, we step out of the sunlight of gratitude and joy, and into the cloud of dread and fear. Your love is the greatest discovery of my life. You make marvelous things from the smallest beginnings. Yet time and again we miss them, distracted by glamour and glitter, and so miss your joy and glory.
Protect others, Lord, from our acts of ingratitude and ignorance.
Forgive us, Lord, for the sins we know in our hearts.
Save us, Lord, from the sins we hide from ourselves.

God of Small Things and the Unexpected.
Bless our tithes and offerings that they may become a bountiful feast for all who need to be filled with good things.
Open our eyes to see the strangers you call us to welcome.
Empower us to receive them as you do—without hesitation.
May we recognize and delight in the gifts they share with us. Amen.
*Closing Hymn: “Sent Forth by God’s Blessing” (#76 black hymnal)
