God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship from Thom Schuman
It is in this place of holiness that we can come with
our fears, our doubts, all the questions of our hearts.
We come to this place: to hear the words of peace,
of hope, of joy that God speaks to us.
It is in this place of discovery that we can come searching.
We come to this place: to find the One who has been looking for us.
It is in this place of openness that we can come knocking.
We come to this place: to be embraced by the One
whose heart is never locked.
*Opening Hymn “Sweet Hour of Prayer” (#505)
Unison Prayer of Confession from Sheri Brown
Most Merciful God … you give us the precious gift of prayer and we treat it like a toy … leaving it behind when we have better things to do … desperately clinging to it when nothing else will do. Forgive us for not praying as we should, especially that part about forgiving others. Have mercy on us, we pray in Jesus name. Amen.
