*Responsive Call to Worship
The earth is alive with the glory of God:
Lake Superior sings
and the birch and pine trees dance.
All created things add their rhythm of delight
and even the stones rap out their praise.
Let our voices mingle with the song of the earth,
may our hearts join the beat of her joy.
For God is with us:
Our Creator surrounds and upholds us.
Jesus walks beside and before us.
The Spirit moves within and between us.
Blessed be God!
*Opening Hymn “You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore” (#173)
Unison Prayer of Confession
Gracious God, we confess that we do not see the gifts you have placed in our very laps. You have strewn our daily paths with beauty, but our eyes are dull. You have warmed our days with mercy, but we go on not believing you are with us. Seize us, O God, and blow through us like a lake breeze. Open us to your Spirit working in and among us and all your people, in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

God is Revealed in the Word
Poems “The Lake” ~ Deb Cooper
“Dance at Dawn” ~ Gary Boelhower
is opening the dark
She prays the sun up
slips it from
beneath her silver skirts,
in her hands.
repeats its mantra.
Her reaching fingers curl
over the smooth stones
like a rosary.
she lifts the moon
out of her pocket,
like a sacrament
over and over
to her knees
upon the shore.
by Deb Cooper
Go out as far as you can
to sit alone on a stone throne
where you give up all the straight lines of your mind
in the dark quiet shiver an hour before dawn.
Set your eyes on that seam where water and sky
are stitched together in their great meeting
and when the fierce light tears the world wide
open for another day
dare to say your name
over the buckle and swell of waves
one sweet word of imperfect love
dare to say your name
not proud but in full voice
unfastened from any small hopes or pains.
Send it free as a smooth stone
skipping on the hammered blue
its singular dance
glancing gold in the new light
for a bright brief breath.
