*Responsive Call to Worship
adapted from Just Peace Resolution 2014 & Thom Shuman
When we seek justice for the other;
when we love kindness more than ever;
we live so all may live free from fear;
we live as God asks us to live.
When we use no more than we need;
when we walk humbly through life;
we live so that the earth is sustained;
we are the blessing God hopes we will be.
When we offer mercy to those who hurt us;
when we live so all lives matter and are protected;
we live as the makers of just peace;
we reflect the One who lives in our midst.
When we choose weakness rather than power;
when we share monetary resources so all may live in dignity;
we see the lamb nuzzling the lion;
then we dwell in the Realm of God.
*Opening Hymn “I Woke Up This Morning” #85
Unison Prayer of Confession
O Holy One, We are part of the problem, no matter how hard we have tried to live faithfully all our lives as persons and as a church, we consume much more than our fair share of the earth’s resources. We stand in the midst of many injustices and do too little. We are seduced by sweet calls to buy more, work more, the fear of never enough.
We are weary. We need a new direction, a new path.
And so we repent. We turn anew to You and say yes to your call to live into being a holy world of abundance – one of good social relations, care for earth’s bounty, human dignity in diversity, and a “just peace” where all life matters. Amen
Responsive Assurance of Pardon
Now, after we confess, we hear the good news proclaimed: God hears our words, God sees our changed hearts, God’s steadfast love is poured out upon us!
We will trust in God, in whom our salvation rests. Thanks be to God, we are loved and forgiven! Amen.

To do justice, to love kindness, to walk humbly with your God, with your God.
To do justice, to love kindness, to walk lightly with your God, with your God.
To fall in love, to not let go, to not stand above, to not stand below.
