God is Revealed as We Gather
*Responsive Call to Worship
Come into this household of God that we might all listen to God’s Word and discern the wisdom that comes only from God.
How can we discover such wisdom?
Reverence for God is the beginning of wisdom. When we choose to live according to God’s will and plan, God will give to each of us a wise and discerning heart.
May God fill us with psalms and hymns and wisdom!
Let us lift up in praise the music from our hearts.
*Opening Hymn “God of Grace and God of Glory” (#436)
Unison Prayer of Confession adapted from Thom Shuman
We try to be so careful, Faithful God, yet we make so many mistakes. We think we are so wise, yet do not understand the simple wonder of a child. We spend so little time aware of your presence, and then wonder why we do not know your dreams for us. We long to be good, kind people, but find our hearts tripping over the temptations of the world.
Have mercy, Holy One, continue to teach us that we may truly be wise. May we practice what we learn, as we follow you in faith and love. Amen.
