Sam Cook, outdoors writer and columnist at the Duluth News Tribune, will share photos and reflections about some of the places sacred to him and the people he has written about through the years.
Sam Cook has been covering the great outdoors for the Duluth News Tribune for nearly 36 years. He is the author of six books. One of his collections of essays, Up North, portrays the enchanting North Country as a state of mind as much as a geographical area. Up North captures the mystic moods, seasonal subtleties, and colorful characters that fill the region from the Minnesota canoe country to the vast expanse of the Northwest Territories.
His stories, which have gained him an impressive number of awards, range from the Steger International Polar Expedition in 1986, to an ordinary tale of paddling on the Brule River.
