What is the connection between writing and social change? How do we bear witness, work for justice, speak our hearts and minds? Writing is a sacred act and a transformative blessing. There is a long history of writers speaking out about social injustice—poets and authors bearing witness, offering hope, creating change. This workshop will focus on the power of writing as social change. We will read selected pieces from this tradition, while focusing on our own writing. The workshop is open to everyone, whether or not you consider yourself a writer. It is an opportunity to give voice to your thoughts, to hear and to be heard.
