An Invitation To Attend...
There is a disturbing escalation of human rights violations in the Philippines.  In total 833 persons have been killed in what international observers and human rights organizations all agree is a well-designed scheme to eliminate and intimidate leaders who speak out peacefully against human rights abuses of their government. arrow more

Day 1: March 12
Day of Lament and Witness
“When “truth stumbles in the public square”
Candle lighting for the Victims of Killings and Human Rights Violations

“Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands at a distance; for truth stumbles in the public square, and righteousness cannot enter.  Truth is lacking, and whoever turns from evil is despoiled. The Lord saw it and it displeased him that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, and was appalled that there was no one to intervene…”
(Isaiah 59: 14-16 NRSV)

Our conference will open mid-afternoon and end in the early evening, and will include the following: welcome formalities, opening liturgy, orientation, dinner, and cultural night. The opening homily will be by one of the bishops in the Philippine delegation. The conference will open and end with worship, calling upon God for wisdom and empowerment in our acts of solidarity and accompaniment. arrow more
