Enrich Your Faith & Meet a Wellness Challenge! We are pairing two resources for Lent at Peace. See both videos at every session offered twice each week, Sundays at 9:30 a.m. Each session repeated the following Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room.
ENRICH YOUR FAITH: Experience the core practices of the Christian faith through Enrich Your Faith. In each session, the group will watch a video featuring a leading voice from the Christian faith, spend time on personal reflection and journaling, and share ideas with the group.
THE DANIEL PLAN: Jesus knew it. We know it. The “secret sauce” of making change is doing it together – for congregations and for individuals – so we are partnering with St. Mark’s AME. Together during Lent, we are offering the resources of The Daniel Plan, not just another “diet,” it is built with love and self-care as its motivation. It offers resources shaped by modern research and rooted in biblical story in five areas: Faith, Food, Fitness, Focus, and Friends.
How it works: The Daniel Plan offers a variety of resources, but the Health Care and Wellness Team is inviting you to choose just one positive change to make during Lent in your eating, activity level, or health practice, and then join us at these activities for information, encouragement, and fun with friends from Peace and St. Mark, to help you carry it out.
Enjoy Small Group Video Discussions offered twice each week, Sundays at 9:30 a.m. and program repeated Wednesdays at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room.

FAITH – Nurturing Your Soul: “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” Prov. 4:23 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Phil. 4:13
Our capacity to change is strengthened by our active devotional life and its gifts of scripture. The promise of “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord,” will replace our 1,300 negative words per minute negative dialogue.
Week 2: March 1: – Food – Eating, With Jesus – Sara Miles believes that French fries can be as holy as organic kale when they are offered and shared in acts of love and fellowship.
FOOD: Enjoying God’s Abundance: “It’s about pleasure, about deliciousness, about joy. I mean, that’s what this is about. Who the heck wants to do this if it’s going to be about suffering and deprivation? I don’t want that, right? I want to wake up every morning and feel good and enjoy my life and enjoy what I’m eating. And you know what? You can.” – Dr. Mark Hyman
Week 3: March 8: Worship – Seeking God’s Presence – For many Christians, worship is synonymous with going to church. Mike Slaughter challenges us to think about worship as a much richer practice, one we can follow on our own and in community.
FITNESS: Strengthen Your Body: “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit …Therefore honor God with your bodies.” – 1 Cor. 6:19a, 20b
We believe the most effective form of exercise you can do to achieve abundant health is the one that you will actually do. We encourage you to discover movement that you will enjoy and repeat. Most importantly, have fun doing it!

Week 4: March 15: – Sacraments – A Tapestry of Traditions – For many of us, the sacraments have become just another part of our church routine, like hymns and prayer. But Phyllis Tickle asks us to revisit the ancient meaning of these experiences and consider what we are really up to as we take part in these practices.
FOCUS: Renew Your Mind: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Romans 12:2 (NIV) In a world where so many distractions compete for your attention, it is more important than ever to focus on God’s intention toward wholeness. Express your gratitude to God and make the choice to dwell in God’s goodness; consistently reflecting on her truth and promises.
Week 5: March 22:
Community – An Unexpected Family – Doug Pagitt pushes us to think of community as more than just a nice idea. He invites us to remake our communities by bringing our gifts, our talents, and our ideas with us wherever we go.

FRIENDS: Encourage One Another: “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NLT) When it comes to getting healthy, two are always better than one. The Bible says God created the universe in such a way that we need each other. One of our foundational beliefs is that “every body needs a buddy”. We truly get better together.
