Being a layleader
Thank you for signing up to be a lay leader for our worship services. If you are not able to be the lay leader on your scheduled dates, we ask that you find a replacement. If you have difficulty switching with someone, please contact the office.

The bulletin will be mailed to you on the Thursday before you are scheduled (if you switch with someone, please be sure to let the church office know). Kathy will mark what she would like you to read, which could include the call to worship, the Scripture lesson(s), and the dedication for the offering.

It is helpful to go over the readings in advance so you become familiar with them and you have a chance to check on pronunciation of any unusual words or names that may be in the text. It is also helpful to practice reading the passage aloud at home. Keep in mind that your tendency may be to read more quickly than is ideal. It also helps the interpreter and those with hearing difficulties if you read slowly.

Please be sure you are at the church no later than 10:15 am on Sunday morning so you are ready to walk in with Kathy. Adjust the microphone as needed so that you are able to speak directly into it. Those who have difficulty hearing will be appreciative. Although no one expects you to dress up, please come in attire you would consider respectful.

Again, thank you for helping with this important part of our worship service. If you have any questions regarding your duties, feel free to call contact a member of the Worship and Arts Committee or Pastor Kathy.
