Coffee Hour -Setting Up, Serving, Cleaning Up, and Taking down the Tables

Your willingness to help with hospitality on Sunday mornings is very much appreciated. These instructions have been revised, so please look over them carefully. Coffee Hour has become a tradition at Peace. It is a time of visiting with old friends and getting to know new folks. The instructions for various areas follow.

If you are unavailable on your scheduled dates, we ask that you find a replacement.

Coffee Hour Set-Up

  • Arrive around 9:45 - 10 am
  • Supplies for coffee hour are located in the plastic bin on the bottom shelf of the stainless steel counter (middle of kitchen) You will need: Coffee, juice, creamer/sugar, sweetener packets, Tea, napkins, stirrers, instant decaf coffee, carafes, pitchers for Kool-aid, cookies (or other treats--see below)
  • Extra supplies are on the top shelf next to freezer in storage room (located across from elevator). The key for this room is hanging on a hook in the cabinet above small kitchen sink. It is labeled “sewing room”.
  • Make coffee in large 100-cup percolator. 72-84 cups are usually sufficient; use 1 cup of coffee per 30 cups water. Heat water in small 30-cup percolator for instant decaf coffee and tea.
  • Make I large (gallon) pitcher and I small (2 quart) pitcher of KooI-Aid. Put in refrigerator.
  • Coffee cups are located under counter. Wheel the cup cart to the serving table and place cups on table.
  • Plastic glasses for juice are located under counter. Put glasses on a separate table by window.
  • Put out basket for donations (located in cupboard)
  • Put cookies on plastic trays. Cookies will be brought in that morning or will be in the freezer in the storeroom.

Serving Coffee

  • Go to the Kitchen during the last hymn.
  • Pour coffee into 2 carafes
  • pour hot water into 1 carafe
  • Put Kool-Aid on small table and pour a few glasses half full.
  • Put cookie trays on serving table. If you need more cookies, check the freezer in the storage room. (across from the elevator). The key is found in the cupboard above the small sink in the kitchen and is labeled “Sewing Room”.

Cleaning Up

  • When coffee hour is over please put the napkins, sugar, creamer, tea and instant coffee away in the plastic bin located in the kitchen.
  • Rinse out the carafes, wash off the plastic trays and wipe the tables.
  • Dump the coffee grounds in a waste basket with a plastic liner.
  • Wash dishes (if nobody has been assigned to this) -refer to dishwasher instructions posted on dishwasher. •
  • The money from the donation basket should be given to Lynn or Pat Devlin.
  • If neither of them is available, please put it in an envelope, marked “coffee money” , seal it and leave it in the church office.

Table Volunteers

  • Please take down the tables and chairs following Coffee Hour.
