Running to Help Keep People on their Feet!
If you are planning to run Grandma’s Marathon, Half-Marathon, or 5k–sign up at Peace Church as a Gabriel runner, and get pledges from friends and family to support the Gabriel Fund!
There’s also a pledge sheet at church for anyone wanting to give a donation in honor of all runners–how about $26–a dollar a mile! If you’d like to donate on-line, click here.
What is The Gabriel Fund?
The Gabriel Fund offers financial assistance to people who have nowhere else to turn when they are in need of a one-time minimal cash gift to make it through a crisis.
Administered by CHUM, the Gabriel Project helps to fulfill CHUM’s mission: “People of faith, working together to provide basic necessities, foster stable lives, and organize for a just and compassionate community”. The Fund is supported by Duluth faith congregations including Peace UCC, Trinity Lutheran, Gloria Dei Lutheran, First Lutheran, Pilgrim Congregational, First United Methodist, Glen Avon Presbyterian, Duluth Congregational and St. Michael’s Catholic.
Generally the Fund provides between $40 and $50 to help people with a variety of items such as bus tickets, gas vouchers, utility bills, rent, medical co-pays, work boots or uniforms.
