Choral Call to Worship “All Hail the Power of Jesus Name”
*Responsive Call to Worship
This is the day the Lord has made!
We will be glad and rejoice in it.
This is the day God has made, and what a day!
When God wipes away our tears so we can see the
What a day! Easter day!
When God opens our hearts to new life and joy as Jesus calls us each by name and asks us to follow the paths of new life.
*Opening Hymn “Christ the Lord is Risen Today”
(#130 red hymnal)
Responsive Prayer of Confession
God of miracles, we hear the song, the joyful chorus of new beginnings, the celebration of the risen Christ.
But sometimes we can’t follow the tune, and the words of salvation hold no meaning.
God of love, you invite us to dance; to swing and whirl with you, with one another, with all creation; to live out the good news that Jesus brought.
But too often our feet stumble, we turn our backs on the joy of the story.
God of faithfulness, you are always with us, showing yourself in every new morning, holding us in love every night.
Forgive us, Holy One, for rejecting your gifts, for allowing our burdens to define our lives. As you left the grave clothes in the tomb, help us to leave behind all that holds us back from love.
