April 3 – Michele Naar-Obed speaking about Kobani, Syria and our opportunity to help rebuild a library there. In January 2015, the Kurdish people took the Kurdish city of Kobani, Syria out of ISIS control. By May of 2015 about 50,000 of the Kurdish refugees returned to their city which was 70% destroyed. An international appeal has gone out to help to rebuild Kobani. Come learn more and how to be part of this crucial effort.

April 10 – Brian Resch, a Duluth native and financial counselor with JNBA will show us how to anticipate and strategize for life milestones with our financial planning so our heart is spared the fear/greed tension and the use of our money, whether a little or a lot, is in alignment with our values.
April 17 – April Sanderson of Lutheran Social Services will lead a workshop on Take the Fast Road to Debt Freedom. Debt can swamp one’s heart and life with fear and worry. LSS has a long track record of helping people restore order in their financial lives.
April 24 – Sarah Holst speaking about “Watershed Discipleship”: a term coined by Ched Myers referring to the practice of being a Christian through a local eco-justice lens. This presentation will include ways our perspective shifts by bringing the Lake Superior watershed into worship, local connections between environmental and racial justice, and imaginative exercises using the first chapter of the Gospel of Mark.
